Web Design / Event Promo / Cultural Engineering (2014-2016)

More than just a brand, Reno Hipsters was an experiment in cultural engineering. Named after ATXHipsters in memory of lost friend KellyNoel, the event listing site filled the gap in local event coverage caused by the consolidation of the media industry, loss of the entertainment section in the Reno Gazette, and take-over by Casinos.

Just a few short years after launch, the competition resulted in the local news returning their support of Reno’s local culture. Catering to a youthful market helped increase the city’s profile, attracting out-of-town visitors and new hires for Tesla’s manufacturing facility in the area. The brand also supported annual events including the Tequila Sock Wrap and Drinking Competition, The “Pussy Grabs Back” bar hop following comments made by former President Donald Trump during his 2016 campaign season, and Reno Sculpture Fest after-parties. You can find an archive of shenanigans through the Reno Hipsters Instagram account.
